Quality is the most important feature of any software. With the new version of our solution for test management, highest quality is guaranteed. aqua 19.1 brings a lot of improvements and new features, which simplify the test process significantly.
aqua becomes even easier! That was our goal with the new implementation of the aqua main window. During the modernization we put a lot of emphasis on simplifying the user interface, making it clearer and more accessible. And it has also become faster.
An important change: The navigation area for switching between the aqua modules (e.g. reports, dashboard, navigation, etc.) is more prominent and now placed on the left side. In our Usability Tests we were able to notice a significant improvement in accessibility for new aqua users.
The new aqua Reporting. With aqua 19.1 the aqua Web Client has become even better. Reports can now be completely designed and configured in the web client. The editor is trimmed for simplicity and shows a great overview of the report structure. So your new favorite report is designed and extracted even faster.
For all teams that already have a lot of great reports: With the new report search function you can find the right report in no time at all.
It is our declared goal to make aqua as accessible to all users as possible. An important guideline for this is the Barrier-Free Information Technology Ordinance (BITV). The new aqua release brings many improvements regarding the BITV 2.0 criteria:
With version 19.1, the aqua Webclient can be operated comprehensively by keyboard. Here we have optimized the tab order, i.e. the possibility to move through the user interface via keyboard. In order to make the whole thing as efficient as possible for people who are completely dependent on the keyboard, we have additionally defined areas that can be accessed directly without having to go through the tedious process of getting to them. The F4 key can be used to quickly switch between these different sections.
We have created additional keyboard shortcuts for various important functions, e.g. ‘Ctrl+S’ for saving or ESC for closing a dialog, without having to use the mouse.
The available shortcuts can be easily displayed at any time by pressing the F1 key.
Additionally keyboard traps have been removed, colors and contrasts in masks have been removed adapted for better recognizability, the clarity of various masks and numerous detail improvements for accessibility implemented.
The ‘aqua command input’: The new functionality is particularly important for the significant improvement of accessibility according to BITV 2.0 and operability:
Using the F10 key, users can select an intelligent aqua command line which opens all the buttons that are possible for the user via a simple makes text input available.
This allows users to view all available commands and action options
to list them clearly, without having to display them in the user interface.
to search or have to jump to.
These can then be selected either directly by pressing up and down buttons
or simply be advertised. An “auto-complete” function
makes this especially easy.
Everyone who has ever worked with aqua views knows how useful they are in daily work. And because they are so practical, aqua users and teams like to create a larger number of views. But how to find the right “aqua View” in the list of views? With aqua 19.1 this is child’s play!
We have completely reworked the views, made them easier to use and at the same time added great features for power users. With 19.1 you can now see more clearly which views you or your colleagues have created. If you are looking for a specific aqua view: The new search function helps you quickly.
You can add the best views to your favorites and with the function “Combine” you can use the intersection from several aqua views, e.g. see directly which test cases are planned for this sprint and which of them have failed.
With the aqua favorites you are even faster! aqua offers with 19.1 a new area in which you can jump directly to the most important projects and folders with only one click. How do you set your personal favorites?
This is very easy: Simply click on a folder and select “Add to favorites” from the context menu. If you now click on the new favorite entry, aqua jumps directly to the appropriate folder or project.
A little trick: Double-click on a favorite to display the complete path expanded to the destination folder in the navigation tree.
aqua gets tidier. Not every view makes sense for every element type. A grouping by execution status, for example, is great for test cases and scenarios, but not interesting for errors. With version 19.1 you can define for each aqua view for which element types it is intended. This makes the list of views tidier, more accessible and helps aqua teams to tackle the right elements.
Look at that. The new preview. What is the most interesting thing about test cases? For many of our users it’s the test steps. Therefore we have extended the preview and now offer the possibility to display the test steps directly without having to open the test case. This helps testers and test managers to find the right test case even faster.
The preview of test scenarios has also been enhanced and offers additionally a preview of the contained test cases an.
A classic use case: Running a list of elements.Whether an update of errors or a review of test cases, often want to Users can go through a series of elements one after the other.
Curtain up for the new rod processing in aqua:
Select a list of elements and click “Open”. Now just jump between the elements in the same tab with the ← and → icons. Or even more comfortable: Use the shortcuts F7 and F8.
Thanks to the self-updating dashboards on the web, teams now have an even better overview of their projects. Changes are automatically updated every 5 minutes without user interaction. Ideal to be displayed e.g. on a TV in full screen mode.
